Our Mission
StudyFinds exists to make science accessible without sacrificing accuracy.
We believe that peer-reviewed research belongs to everyone, not just academics. Our job is to find studies that matter to real people, report what they actually say (not what headlines want them to say), and present that information clearly, fairly, and completely.
We have no agenda. We don’t editorialize about whether a finding is good or bad, politically convenient or inconvenient. We report what the research says, note its limitations, and trust our readers to think for themselves.
Who We Are
StudyFinds was founded in 2016 and is operated by 41 Pushups, LLC. Our editorial team includes Founder and Editor-in-Chief Steve Fink, who oversees all content published on the site, Associated Editor John Anderer, and Newsletter Editor Sophia Naughton, who are trained in science communication and research literacy.
After graduating from the University of Maryland’s Philip Merrill College of Journalism, Steve Fink began his career as a sports producer at WJZ-TV in Baltimore, his hometown, before deciding to move into the growing world of digital news in 2005. After moving to New York City, where he was Managing Editor of WCBS-TV’s website, he eventually joined the corporate team and spent most of his career overseeing content and audience development for CBS Television Stations’ websites.
StudyFinds was born out of a need he saw: research, particularly on television news, was often delivered irresponsibly. Both on-air and online reports failed to capture the true depth of studies, which carry limitations and flaws. What was needed was an agenda-free hub for studies that impacted the general public, and so he created StudyFinds. His 20+ years as a journalist and his vision for agenda-free, neutral science reporting shapes the foundation of StudyFinds.
How We Report: Our Editorial Process
Every article published on StudyFinds follows a structured, multi-stage process designed to maximize accuracy and minimize misrepresentation:
1. Study Selection
We cover research published in peer-reviewed journals, pitched by reputable PR/marketing agencies, or presented at major academic conferences. We prioritize studies from high-impact, reputable journals and note when research is preliminary, observational, or limited in scope. Press releases alone are never sufficient. We always locate and read the source paper.
2. AI-Assisted Drafting
We use large language model (LLM) technology to produce initial article drafts based directly on the source paper. We believe AI, used responsibly, allows us to process complex academic language more completely than traditional summarization. But it is always the starting point, never the final word.
3. Three-Model Cross-Verification
This is the step that sets us apart. Since 2024, every draft, along with the original source paper, is independently analyzed by at least three LLMs. Discrepancies in how the models interpret the findings are flagged and resolved. This process catches mischaracterizations, overstated conclusions, and errors that a single-pass review would miss.
4. Human Editorial Review
Every article is reviewed, edited, and approved by our experienced, agenda-free human editors before publication. Our editors verify factual claims against the source paper, assess the appropriateness of headlines and framing, and apply final editorial judgment. No article is published without human sign-off.
5. Source Transparency
Every article links directly to the original study. We disclose funding sources when they are disclosed in the paper. We note conflict-of-interest disclosures from study authors when present.
What We Don’t Do
- We do not publish studies we cannot locate and read in full
- We do not allow advertising relationships to influence editorial coverage
- We do not present correlation as causation without clearly noting the distinction
- We do not sensationalize findings or use headlines that overstate conclusions
- We do not agree nor disagree with any of the studies we post, rather, we encourage our readers to civilly debate the veracity of the findings themselves.
Corrections & Retractions Policy
We take accuracy seriously enough to publicly correct our mistakes.
Corrections: If a factual error is identified in any article, we correct it promptly and note the correction at the top or bottom of the article with the date it was made.
Retractions: When a study we have covered is formally retracted by its journal, we update the original article with a prominent retraction notice and publish a follow-up note. We do not silently delete articles.
To report an error, email [email protected] with the article URL and the specific claim you believe is inaccurate. We investigate every report.
Independent Credibility Assessments
StudyFinds has been independently evaluated by third-party media credibility organizations:
- NewsGuard — Awarded a perfect 100/100 credibility rating, recognizing our commitment to transparency, corrections, and factual reporting.
- Media Bias / Fact Check — Rated “Least Biased” with “High” factual accuracy
These ratings are not paid placements. We did not solicit them and cannot control them.
A Note on AI and Journalistic Integrity
We are transparent about our use of AI because we believe transparency is non-negotiable in journalism.
AI tools help us work faster and, in our view, more accurately — particularly in parsing dense academic language and cross-checking interpretations across multiple sources. But AI does not replace editorial judgment. It does not decide what to cover, how to frame findings, or whether a study is worth your attention. Those decisions are made by people who are accountable for them.
We believe the future of science journalism involves humans and AI working together. We are committed to doing that responsibly and openly.

Mission Statement
StudyFinds sets out to find new research that speaks to mass audiences — without all the scientific jargon. The stories we publish are digestible, summarized versions of research that are intended to inform the reader as well as stir civil, educated debate.
See why NewsGuard awarded StudyFinds a perfect 100 rating following a review of our site and policies in 2022. Similarly, Media Bias / Fact Check has rated StudyFinds as one of the “Least Biased” online news sites with High level of factual reporting.
Editorial and Content Integrity
All studies and surveys published on StudyFinds are vetted by our editors prior to publication. We are always seeking to show transparency of a study, revealing who funded or is behind each article, and including links back to the source and corresponding journal article, if possible. Any research that has been retracted we will retract from our site with a correction. You can find the important “fine print” details of a study in the “Paper Summary” or “Paper Notes” section found at the end of each article. (Note: Many reports written prior to this feature being added have not been updated with Paper Notes yet.)
Each day, we seek out recently conducted research released by universities, peer-reviewed journals, marketing firms and other established companies, with sources vetted by our experienced editorial team.
Our “Best Of The Best” reviews, launched in 2022, were created to help our readers find highly recommended products, services, media, and consumer advice in one space. These reviews were a product of Editor-in-Chief Steve Fink’s own shopping behavior, in which he’ll read review after review when searching for a specific item until he comes upon a product that is highly rated by numerous top reviewers. Considering himself the average consumer, Steve believed this type of research could be equally helpful to others. It would also allow other consumers to leave behind feedback that might also help others’ make better decisions.
And that’s our hope here on StudyFinds: to provide credible, high-quality reports and reviews that can help our readers make better everyday decisions in their lives. The more you know, the better.
Accuracy and Corrections
Our articles are based on original source materials such as published research papers. We are committed to accuracy with current and reputable primary references including peer-reviewed journals and academic institutions. If any content is found to be inaccurate or erroneous, we will always issue corrections. If you have published research and you would like to see your study featured here, please contact us with details by emailing editor (at) studyfinds (dot) org.
Verified and Fact-Checked Designations
In 2024, we added a feature to mark posts as “Verified,” indicating they were reviewed and vetted by a human member of the StudyFinds editorial team.
A report marked “Fact-Checked” indicates that we were provided the source paper and/or supplementary materials the authors used in their research, and have checked that our report aligns with the actual research paper. This is an important feature that, unfortunately, many major news outlets do not follow when reporting on scientific research.
Note: Many posts published prior to these features being added to the site have not been updated with these designations. They will be updated as these posts are reviewed in the future.
Community Feedback and Engagement
Editor’s Note: studyfinds.com is not affiliated with nor supports any of the studies we post on this site. Our goal is to provide readers with easy-to-understand reports and leave it to our readers to debate and explain their positions on these findings. There is no agenda here other than to find new data that will elicit a healthy dose of conversation for topics that speak to large segments of the population.
We strongly encourage our readers to leave their opinions about the studies in the corresponding “Comments” section of each article. Creating a civil conversation among people with differing beliefs or experiences relevant to each study is always welcome here and appreciated.
All comments are subject to moderation. Comments left on posts that are hateful, threatening, vulgar or violent in nature will not be approved. Disrespectful and uncivil conversation is not welcome on StudyFinds. While we ask readers to point out flaws or disagree with a study’s findings, it must be done so in a constructive and respectful manner.
We’d love to hear from you if you have questions, comments, suggestions, and concerns. Write us by emailing editor (at) studyfinds (dot) org. Please be respectful: inappropriate or uncivil messages will be ignored.
